Plectranthus amboinicus is a herb common in India. It is commonly found in many home gardens of India. This herb is also found in USA, Carribians and Australia. This herb is a member of Laminaceae plant family. This is a semi spreading herb, it grows to a height of 0.5 meter. The leaves are thick, fleshy, oval to round with small teethed margin. The leaves and stem have characteristic aroma. The flowers are small and pale purple, arranged in panicle. Usage: In Ayurveda the leaves are used for treatment of gastric disturbances. The leaves are useful in treatments of common cold, cough and headache. In India the leaves are used for culinary purposes.
